A medical coder takes information from a patient's medical record and assigns medical codes to identify procedures, diagnoses and any medical equipment. A billing professional will use those codes to accurately submit claim forms to insurance companies, appeal denials, and post charges, payments, and adjustments to patient accounts. Certified Billing & Coding Specialists will find jobs in physicians offices, hospitals, clinics, and insurance companies.

Registered medical assistants are on the frontlines of patient care and central members of the healthcare team. They often serve in both administrative and clinical roles. Duties may include recording medical histories and vital signs, providing basic medical care, performing lab tests, and assisting physicians during medical exams.

Practical Nursing

Butler Tech's practical nursing program combines classroom learning and hands-on clinical experience to prepare you for rewarding and challenging opportunities in nursing. Employment opportunities exist with extended care facilities, home health agencies, physicians' offices, schools, outpatient clinics, and hospice providers. Graduates who pass the National Council for Licensure exam will be credentialed as a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN).

Learn basic patient care. Meets all training requirements to be eligible for State of Ohio Certification Exam. 100% attendance is mandatory. Prerequisites: Background check, and Two step Mantoux TB test must be completed prior to the first day of class. When you register and pay for class, you will be given a background check form to take with you. Student must be 16 years of age or older to attend, supply their own navy blue uniforms, black leather or leather like shoes, and watch with a second hand. Travel required. Sixteen hours will be completed at a clinical location the last week of the program. Day program clinicals are 7:30 am-4:00 pm and evening program clinicals are 4:30 pm-10:00 pm. When taking the final exam, you must have your social security card as well as a non-expired picture government ID, no exceptions. No xerox copies accepted. Prerequisite for incoming Practical Nursing students.
